When Your Body Starts Whispering… Listen

Updated: 6 days ago

Something I’ve learned again and again, both in my own life and in clinic, is that the body always speaks first. Long before the mind catches up, the body is already sending little signals that something feels “too much”.

And those signals are so easy to miss when we’re busy, overwhelmed, or just trying to get through the day.

💛 How the Body Mirrors What We Feel

Think about how a dog tucks its tail when it feels scared or unsure.

Humans do a version of that too.

When we’re stressed or in fight‑or‑flight, the coccyx curls under, the belly tightens, the shoulders round forward. The whole body starts to fold in, almost like it’s trying to protect itself.

It’s not dramatic.

It’s not “all in your head”.

It’s your nervous system doing its best to keep you safe.

🌼 Your Body’s Little Clues

You might notice things like:

• Wanting to curl up or hide

• Feeling smaller in your posture

• Tightness in the chest or stomach

• A sense of collapsing inward

• A sudden urge to withdraw

• Feeling overstimulated or jumpy

For me, the biggest giveaway is when my body suddenly wants to drop into Child’s Pose.

That’s when I know:

Okay… I’m carrying too much. Something needs to shift.

🌼 Pause. Reflect. Adjust.

When you notice these patterns, take a moment to reflect on what’s happening around you.

• What feels stressful right now

• What needs softening

• What boundaries need strengthening

• What can be simplified or removed

Small changes in your environment can create big shifts in your nervous system.

🌱 You Don’t Have to Untangle It All Alone

This is where Spinal Flow becomes such a gift.

When your body is curling in on itself, when everything feels tight, when your system is stuck in protection mode, a Spinal Flow session helps your nervous system soften, unwind, and finally let go.

As practitioners, we’re trained to feel where the blockages are - the places where stress, emotion, or old experiences have created tension in the spine.

With gentle touch, we help the body release those patterns so you can breathe again, open again, and feel like you again.

Clients often say things like:

“I didn’t realise how much I was holding until it started to melt away.”

or

“I feel like I’ve come back into my body.”

♥️ A Little Reminder

You’re not meant to push through everything.

You’re not meant to carry it all alone.

Your body is always trying to guide you back to balance — and sometimes it just needs a safe pair of hands to help it release what it’s been holding.

If your body has been whispering for a while, you don’t have to wait for it to shout.
